Information on past meetings - 1997
January 1997
The chapter held a luncheon meeting at Celebrations. We discussed various HR issues submitted by members that were randomly drawn at the December meeting.
February 1997
The Reverend M. Lee Albertson, of St. Timothy Lutheran Church of Hudson, presented a program on "Conflict Resolution."
March 1997
The topic was HRIS (Human Resource Information Systems) with guest speaker Barb Freyermuth of McGladrey & Pullin.
April 1997
The April meeting, hosted by the University of Northern Iowa (UNI) student chapter of SHRM, featured Kathy Gulick, UNI Wellness Promotion Director, speaking on "The Balance of Job and Home Life."
May 1997
"Immigration Law & Employment," was presented by Tomas Rodriguez, Attorney At Law
June 1997
Hosted and presented by Ken Liebold, Human Resource Manager, Allen Memorial Hospital, Waterloo. The topic was the ever changing area of providing health benefits to employees. The Hospital had recently changed from one provider to three. Allen's experience was cited as a case study to determine which issues need attention when examining insurance plans.
July 1997
Dana Chapman of Eastern Iowa Human Resource Association and AON Consulting presented a "Legislative Update" at the new local office of Staff Management.
August 1997
CVSHRM member, Diana Graham, from GMAC presented "Compensation and Broadbanding," and discussed compensation strategies and the newest in compensation issues.
September 1997
CVSHRM member, Tara Kinder, from Ron Weber & Associates presented a video on HIPPA. Special invited guest, Paula Boyce of Iowa Workforce Development and Boyce Consulting, shared ideas on how to help link area schools with business, industry, labor, and community organizations.

December 1997
Special Holiday Gathering with guest speaker Linda Hass, SPHR, owner and Vice President of Future Sytems, Inc., a payroll service bureau headquartered in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She is completing her two year term as State Director for the Iowa State Coucil for SHRM. Linda discussed SHRM and it's structure for the state, region, and national levels. Also, CVSHRM 1997 Leaders received special recognition.
