A local Cedar Valley organization has decided to hire a search firm to try and find the best replacement for their exiting CEO (this organization does have a Board to report to). They were wondering if there were other members that have used a search firm to hire top executives and if they were happy with the results. Looking for general feedback, but also possible referrals.

Does anyone outsource their payroll and if so, who do you use?

Do you use points?  Strikes?  Do they have a bank of “x” number of unexcused absences?  Etc. etc.

According to our handbook, employees can smoke outside, on their break, in the parking lot. We have been approached about using ecigarettes as an option for people to use at work, in the building, at their work station. I would appreciate any comments and suggestions on guidelines and thoughts.

As a human services agency, we are looking to update our drug-free workplace policy to include drug testing, both for individuals at hire and randomly. If it is possible, I am looking for examples/information regarding this that includes pre-employment screening as well as random testing.
